ImageIt’s been a great two weeks for President Obama since the Democrats were able to fire up their base in Charlotte at the DNC.  Before the DNC, things seemed a bit glum. I felt that all I was reading about were attacks from the right, and Clint Eastwood and his chair. What amazed me about the DNC was the difference in discourse compared to the RNC. The RNC was a whole lot of criticism and attacks on the President. There was little talk of specific plans of how Romney would lead differently, and what his policies would be if elected. It was an all-out verbal assault on President Obama.  The left took a much different approach, and I think it worked in their advantage. The left’s band together-we need to keep fighting-the President isn’t finished yet rhetoric seemed to get people really fired up.

Since the DNC, The President has surged in the polls. He is currently ahead in the Gallup, Reuters, FTI Consulting, NY Times, and Rasmussen polls. Obama also currently holds leads in 12 Swing States such as Ohio, Virginia, Florida, Colorado, Pennsylvania, Iowa, Nevada, Wisconsin and New Mexico.

The good news for Obama kept coming this week. On Thursday, the NY Times published an article stating that Obama raised twice as much as Mitt Romney in checks under $200 in September. Although the Romney campaign has more cash on hand, ($130.0m for the dems, $191.0m for repubs) Barack Obama campaign manager Jim Messina said Monday that 1.1 million donors had given an average of $58, with more than 317,00 donors giving for the first time.

It shinned a bright light on modern day politics, that despite Citizens United (which I believe is one of the most detrimental things to happen to 21st century politics) the voices of American’s are being heard. Are you listening Koch brothers?  Can you hear that justice?

I hope Dems across the U.S. are as excited as I am. I feel ignited after the DNC. With only 45 days left until Election Day, it’s go time. I volunteer with my local Obama campaign office, and it is so inspiring to be surrounded by fellow Obama supporters, and be a part of the President’s reelection efforts. If you’re interested in getting involved check out http://www.barackobama.com/ to find out how you can help.  And regardless of party, please make sure you, your friends, and family vote this November.

 Four more years baby!!

With Radicalflow, Now Anyone Can Build an App

4 Aug

I was blown away by the idea of a brand new startup, Radicalflow when I first read about it on Mashable.  It’s one of the most innovative startup ideas I’ve heard in a while. Imagine you have a great idea for an app, but realize you have no way of building it. You don’t know how to code, and you realize you will need developers, product designers, possible Facebook integration, GPS capability, approval from apple… the list goes on and on.

Introducing Radicalflow, the brilliant web based tool that allows you to build iPhone/iPad apps without knowing how to code. No technical skills required. Using a dashboard, users design the interface and the user experience of the entire app. Submit, and RadicalFlow handles all the backend heavy lifting. Radicalflow supports over 75 API’s allowing users to create their own content, host it ,and all of it’s data on Radicalflow’s servers. What’s even better? Once finished, RadicalFlow even has a platform to publish your product without having to obtain an Apple developers account.

The company says, “It is not a template where you make cookie cutter apps.  Think of it like opening Photoshop or Powerpoint with a blank slate ready for your creative input.”

Unfortunately RadicalFlow only raised $20,171 of the pledged $75,000 needed to get their Kickstarter project off the ground. Their Twitter has also been pretty quiet since mid July. I hope these guys decide to raise a round of funding because Radicalflow is what technology is all about… Enabling and empowering people to do things they never dreamed they could do.

I’ll be keeping tabs.

The Journey is the Reward

The Journey is the Reward

The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own. No apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on, or blame. The gift is yours – it is an amazing journey – and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.

During a recent iTunes indulgence, I was recommended a new artist I was unfamiliar with. (Those algorithms are good). Well I took a listen, and I found myself liking. His name… Hugo, short for Hugo Chakrabongse Levy signed by Jay-Z’s label, Roc Nation in 2010 and soon dubbed the label’s “gangster rocker“.

Hugo was first discovered by Jay-Z’s sig-nif, Beyonce, back in 2010 when Hugo’s writing partner, Amanda Ghost, was simultaneously working with Beyonce on I Am Sasha Fierce. Check out his interview with Rolling Stone at SXSW.

As Hugo himself puts it,

“I’m trying to make rock & roll in the age of hip-hop. A complete thought in 3 minutes and 30 seconds, that’s the challenge. A song is a planet with gravity and atmosphere and things living in it. An album is a solar system. All songs on this album are about two things; love and fear.”

In an age of house music and electronic dominated sound waves, I find Hugo’s talent refreshing and his sound awakening. Check out my favorite tracks off his debut album, Old Tyme ReligionAnd rock on.

For The First Time

1 Jun

The first post… Here we go. It’s offish, (That’s an abbreviation for official) In time my obsession with abbrevs (yes, abbreviation for abbreviation) will become blatantly apparent.  Time & Time A-Jen is comprised of the things I find fascinating, inspiring, thought provoking, silly, liberating, or sheer genius.  The purpose of Time & Time A-Jen isn’t to create some cliché blog with the hopes of gaining a huge following.  Time & Time A-Jen is simply a place for my thoughts to wander on the interwebs.

I conclude this post with a galvanizing quote that sums up my attitude about living.

“Life is one big road with lots of signs. So when you’re riding through the ruts, don’t complicate your mind. Flee from hate, mischief, and jealousy. Don’t bury your thoughts, put your vision to reality. Wake up and live!” – Bob Marley
